Our Story

Meet the Owners

Dan and Chris

Aurora Tap House, formerly known as The Web, is owned by Aurora natives Chris Gonzalez and Dan Ardelean, who have been friends since they were 14 years old. Offering many nightly events, including live music, DJs, karaoke, bingo, sports entertainment and holiday/themed events, has made this a great bar for a diverse age group ranging from 21 to 70's.

A Family Legacy

Dan's Grandma, Marguerite Hoorelbek, started the tavern over 40 years ago. She had many other locations and eventually got rid of them, but 134. W Downer Pl stayed close to her heart. Marguerite's daughters (Dan's mom and aunts), Darlene Ardelean, Sharon Barry and Beverly Bugbee became owners, and Beverly ran the bar for many years until she retired. Dan and Chris proudly bought the bar and the family legacy continues.

As Downtown Aurora evolves, Aurora Tap has kept its authenticity simply as a tavern. There are not many tavern-like-bars left in the city, and it is truly a one-of-a-kind place to stop in, enjoy drinks and have a great time.

The cheese was melted perfectly and added incredible flavor to every bite. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the pizza was cooked just right. The garlic bread was soft, buttery, and complemented the meal perfectly. The service was quick and efficient, and the staff was attentive throughout my visit. The restaurant was well-maintained, and the dining area was clean and comfortable. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were reasonable considering the quality of the food.
